Fantastic writeup of my views today at The Wall Street Journal:
"Gary Marcus hopes that the Trump administration will take AI regulation seriously." — Really?
and sensibly…
Thank you, Gary.
And may I say, I wish you & your family a very happy, thankful, & meaningful Thanksgiving.
I’m thankful for YOU, 😉!
I'm halfway through the Luiza interview (she knows her shit!) Will read the WSJ article tonight.
EXCELLENT
Keep up the critical good work!
Way to go!
Who the bleep knows? Elon has expressed concern about rogue AI and humans surviving the AI apocalypse. So maybe.
Department Of Government Expansion!
Give me a D! Give me an O! Give me G! Give me an E!
What's that spell?!
DOGE!
Elon! Elon! He's our guy! He shoots rockets into the sky!
Why do we care what Elon thinks about anything? Seriously?
Who's called me an optimist?
In these times you have to be an optimist or otherwise you're going to be dead
<klunk>
I'm an optimistic pessimist.
If we diligently look for all the land mines, we may get through without being blown up.
I am what you call a self-proclaimed pragmatic optimist done
I'm sorry, Professor Marcus, but Vance has deep ties to Marc Andreessen and Trump gave Musk a Cabinet job. He will likely repeal Harris's AI regulation, and will probably not change course until a disaster happens.
Nope Dat Elon mon, he not in de cabinet. Truly.
An' dat Elon, he not in de closet either. True Dat.
DOGE is purely advisory.
Sigh....
We will control the future of AI only when we obtain control over everyone on the planet who is developing AI. That is, never.
Congrats on the book and the article. I would like to read it, review and post on my blog and thoughtful social media. If you have a pdf, please send.
So, honest question (and I am not trying to be cynical here): How long before big tech lobbyists just buy off the Director of the new AI Agency?
Great insights there Gary, thank you. The comments section is equally informative :}
Happy thanksgiving!
The Jarovsky interview is great. Seeing Gary's calmness there helps interpret posts that can seem to have sharp edges.
